With the advent of the brighter side of science – “technology” we have adapted ourselves to stellar examples of matter and particle linked with our sensory organs giving us the virtual world that resembles our own.
Contemporary science tells us that all Matter is infact vibration of very very small “particles” called “strings” – more matter would mean more strings. There are various types of string constants each having its own vibration. Eg- strings that help you remain on earth is G – graviton. In reality, gravity is like – a very huge number of Gs like a velcro attached on one end to earth and other to our mass and remember we are matter too, so we have strings too.
In Advaita rishis have paralleled it to “Shakti around Shiv“, meaning vibrating particles dancing around mass and in reality both vibrating in perfect synchronised “Brownian” motion. That is why the cosmic dance of Shiva describes the never materialising yet omnipresence of togetherness of space and time, we remember this by respecting “Kaleshwara “.
Once every year there is a different divine dance. Dance of yet another perfect “Brownian” combination of matter and particle called “Water“. Water from oceans rise high and travel all the way to the Himalayas. This phenomenon is popular as the monsoon. Look carefully – this heavy drought of vibrating particles together forming clouds and then moving in space chasing the low-pressure spots created by the travel of Sun over subcontinent is what drives monsoon. Water is alien to this world yet without water there would have been no life and no consciousness. In monsoon, Water goes from the lowest to the highest place on earth.
Kailash is the Mountain that formed right at the heart of these folds during “great continental drift” which in fact is amongst the highest places on earth. Himalayas and water from the great oceans form the arms of this gigantic water-based life cycle that is the bedrock of human civilization on this planet.
“Water” as in monsoon is continuously playing a pivotal role on this Saraswati Ganga Mekong Civilization. People in these parts have festivals for the complete cycle of the monsoon.
Ramayan month in Kerala, Tamilnadu, Karnataka where literally the downpour is so heavy that cultivation stops and people chant Ram-ayana- the journey of Ram. A king who installed Shiva Swarup Linga in Rameshwaram to worship this Very form of vastness and intelligence of water in the ocean.
Shravan/Savaan in Ganga-belt – the same rains travel north reminding us of the significance of water on “Kailash“. Interestingly Himalayas were formed by moving-plates on lava, the biggest mountain now sits over the biggest lava cap, if and when this erupts it will engulf the entire planet. Seismic activity in this area is directly linked to the weight of snow and permanent ice that covers these mountains. Coincidently we do relate to this too; offering water from “Himalayan Rivers on Shivalinga all over this land“- the sheer importance of Him-alaya (abode of snow) and Ganga(water) arriving on Kailash, courtesy the same – monsoon.
Kavadiyaas bringing water from Haridwar, not letting the pot to touch the ground, walking barefoot 100s of km, drenched in rain chanting “Shankara“; it is not only “this Ganga water” it is also pure devotion that they pour on Shivalingam.
Nagpanchami – Yet another form of such a beautiful combination of strings is “Proteins“. From building blocks of life to the mysticism of death, proteins have shaped life on earth. Most magnificent form of protein is “toxin“. There are three major types of toxins found in nature – cytotoxin, hemotoxin and neurotoxin.
In the world of snakes neurotoxin or combination of neuro with hemo is considered a good punch. But having toxin is one thing using it intelligently is another. King Cobra (Vasuki), is the most intelligent of these, Not only this King has a cocktail of more than 100 such alpha-neurotoxins it also knows which toxin to use when. It knows the precise location of those neurons in your brain it should knock out to paralyse your limbs or just your lung or both depending on the requirement. A snake with such intelligence can only justify its presence around “Neelkanth”. Only a toxin-expert can hold another toxin.
Not surprisingly – Thyroid gland in human neck is the only gland capable of converting “matter-food into energy-ATP(vibration)”. Thyroid controls metabolism, both anabolic and catabolic – thus life without this “bluish purple” Iodine based “thyroxine – Another form of protein” is impossible. This significance is yet again valued in nagapanchami – Vasuki around Neel-kanth‘s(literally blue) neck is a powerful image for all conscious beings.
Local flavours over the years have influenced such remembrances yet it is important to know the deep connection these have with our existence. “Vibration of matter and particle is the cosmic dance of Shiva-Shakti”. People celebrate these festivals across the length and breadth of this great scientific civilization with great devotion and respect. It is important to know what we celebrate and equally important is to know why else you can’t build dharma and logic-based civilization.
Happy Savaan to all Shiv bhakts.
